According to documents found in Jacob Angle's Civil War pension file, his widow, Ann E. Angle, married Joseph Winters on April 1, 1864 in Jefferson County, Ohio. Joesph Winters became the legal guardian of Jacob and Ann's young children, John William, Margaret Rebecca, Abner and Ann. Their oldest child, Sevilla Catherine, is mentioned in the file but not listed as a dependent of Joseph Winters, most likely because she was 15 years old. Sevilla would soon marry James Sanders, a Civil War Veteran, wounded at Gettysburg.
