"Last Mine-Disaster Survivor Dies"

Hollie B. Price, who is believed to be the last survivor of a West Virginia mine disaster that killed 362 persons in 1907, died yesterday, May 13, in Columbia Hospital.

Mr. Price, 96, was working when an explosion ripped through the mine on Dec. 6, 1907, when he was 23 years old. He had worked inside the mine until the day before, when he was transferred to a fan engine outside the mine. The man who replaced him inside the mine was killed.

Mr. Price, a native of Wirt County, W.Va., later moved to Pittsburgh and was employed as a motorman by the Pittsburgh Railways Co., the predecessor of Port Authority Transit, until his retirement. Mr. Price, who lived at the Jane Holmes Residence, Wilkinsburg, was a member of Penn Hills Baptist Church and Swissvale Lodge of the Odd Fellows.

He is survived by a daughter, Doris Bradley; three sons, William G., Lester D., and Melvin R. Price; a brother, Paul Price; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the T. D. Turner Funeral Home, Wilkinsburg, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home, with burial in William Penn Memorial Park, Churchill.
