Mr. Ernest Gordon Carter, 86 of Albany, died on Sunday, December 4 2022, at the Phoenix Senior Living Community in Albany, Georgia.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Donnie Duncan will officiate.

Mr. Carter was born on August 31, 1936 at the home of his parents, James F. & Lillie Carter in Sumner, Georgia. He was honorably discharged from the Army of the United States as an SP4 in 1963. He held a number of jobs before becoming an independent business owner and later an instructor for the American Red Cross.

Survivors include his children, Debbie Headrick (Ricky) of Sylvester, Audie Carter (Charlotte) of Leesburg and Angie Carter of Sylvester; seven grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren; sisters Thelma Carlysle of Florida, Joyce Smith of Tifton, Janice Sinquefield of Leesburg; a brother James W. Carter of Collins; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Carter was preceded in death by a son, Tony Carter, brothers William H. Carter and Curtis Carter.
