She was born in Buncombe County, NC to Joe and Ida McAbee Huntley. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Taylor who died in 1987 and also Arvin Whitaker.
Mrs. Taylor retired from Sayles Biltmore Bleachery with 17 years of service.
She attended Asheville United Christian Church .
Lona was a member of the Biltmore Eastern Star chapter 38.
