Barbara N. Ayers was born on February 27, 1938 in Chicago, IL to C. Harry and Clara (nee Rubelman) Erickson. She died on December 5, 2022 at her home following a long illness surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was a registered nurse who specialized in providing customized, personal and highly-effective palliative care. She worked at The Passionist Monastery in Norwood Park for more than 35 years. During that time she ultimately assisted more than 200 individual patients as they prepared to make their final journey to the great beyond.
Her interests and hobbies included maintaining a positive and healthy lifestyle, world-wide travel, fishing, physical fitness, and music appreciation. Her favorite thing to do was to spend quality time with her many loved ones.
Barbara is survived by her sons Robert W. Ayers and Charles E. (Diane) Ayers; her grandchildren Tiffany (Kevin) Doroba, Julianna (Max) Mendoza, Justin (Diana) Ayers, Ashleigh (Mike) Liptak, Krista (Leo) Torres and Carly (Alex) Navarro; her great-grandchildren Ocean, Colton, Weston, Christian, Maya, Brooklyn, Dominick and Ezariah; her twin sister Betty Erickson and her brother Dr. John (Marilyn) Erickson; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her spouse of 43 years William H. Ayers as well her parents.
Visitation Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 North Arlington Heights Road (4 blocks south of Palatine Road) Arlington Heights, IL 60004 where Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Acacia Park Cemetery in Norridge.
