Alfreda Ann Simmons, 80, of Southport, North Carolina went to be with our Lord and Savior on December 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

Alfreda recently moved to Amarillo, Texas to spend the rest of her time on this earth with her sister Elnita Ridgway. After a brief and unexpected illness, she is no longer in pain and is rejoicing in heaven with many of her loved ones.

Alfreda was born January 28, 1942 in Brownfield, Texas to Rev. and Mrs. Alfred Spell. Alfreda was a school teacher for 31 years. More than anything though, Alfreda loved serving Jesus and she did that with all her heart. She was in ministry most of her life and loved singing and playing the piano in church.

Alfreda is preceded in death by her daughter Ruth Anne Flowers, her husband Reverend Carl Flowers, her parents Rev. And Mrs. Alfred Spell, and her brother Dalton Spell, as well as her late husband Rev. Jesse Simmons.

Survivors include her sister Elnita Ridgway, granddaughters Joelle Rainey and Brittney Rainey, her great grandchildren Carley and Cole Rainey, and Logan Niemyer, seven nieces and two nephews. She will be buried in Rockingham, North Carolina. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Rockingham, North Carolina.
