OBITUARY for John Ray Prejean
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, at a 1:00 P.M. Mass of Christian Burial in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Scott, for John Ray Prejean, 67, who passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at The Calcutta House of Hospice of Acadiana in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
Very Reverend Thomas Voorhies, VF, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Ville Platte, LA , will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Lector will be Hannah Fusilier. Giftbearers will be Karla Youngblood and Heather Barrett.
Survivors include his brother, Allan Dale Prejean and his wife Paula Allen Prejean; two sisters, Anna P. Bernard and husband Roger Bernard, Bonnie P. Prejean and husband Mark Prejean; and his six nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita Sonnier Prejean and his father, Emery J. Prejean.
John was a graduate of Comeaux High School, Class of 1972. He loved playing pool. John enjoyed music, playing the accordion and harvesting the crops on the farm.
Pallbearers will be Taylor Bernard, Ty Bernard, Daniel Prejean, Duane Prejean, Ty Fusilier, and Bryan Barrett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Foreman, Kirk Foreman, Roger Bernard, Mark Prejean, Ronald Sonnier, Tony Sonnier, and Byron Matherne.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's SCOTT location on Friday 9:00 A.M. until time of service.
A Rosary will be prayed Friday at 11:00 A.M. in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
