The Norman Transcript Obituaries. Mary loved attending church and the multiple clubs she belonged to. Visiting with friends and family brought her joy. She enjoyed dressing in beautiful clothes (especially purple) with matching jewelry; cooking; traveling; decorating; shopping; and entertaining. We were planning her 98th birthday party for August when she was hospitalized with pneumonia & kidney disease and just couldn't beat it. Mary was independent, mentally sharp and determined not to be a "burden" to anyone. She lived alone in Noble, OK and took care of herself with help from daughters, Sherrie and Elaine and son, Raymond "Skip" Monasco. Her close friends, Janette,Lorene Barbara, Frances, and so many others who watched over her made it possible for her to stay out of a nursing home. Kris Partin, owner of Fusion Flowers and her darling friend of 45 years, brightened her days with visits and fresh flowers for every occasion. Granddaughter Michelle, made multiple trips from Baton Rouge to visit and help her recuperate from injuries and illnesses.Mary was a huge OU Sooner football and Chicago Cubs baseball fan and never missed a televised game. She was thrilled that she lived long enough to watch the Cubs win the World Series.Mary outlived her husband, Delbert Monasco, four siblings (Kay Williams, Jess Tener, Helen Williams & Rebecca Hamilton) and two children, Raymond Sauls and Barbara Hurd. She is survived by the family mentioned above plus multiple nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving, tender-hearted, strong woman whose absence will be felt as vividly as her presence was by all who knew and loved her.
