Betty Marie Ponton Jacob, 92, found peace in the arms of Jesus on November 28, 2022.

Betty was born in Ezzel, TX on September 19, 1930, to "Pal" and Annie Pearl Ponton. She was the middle child of three and the "apple of her daddy's eye". Betty's family moved to Goliad, TX when she was 11.

During her senior year of high school, a certain young man caught her eye. After completing his service in WW2, Joseph Jacob returned to his parents' home across the street from where Betty lived. To say the least, she was smitten. And in her own words, she "set her cap for him", spending hours in her front yard, trying to catch his attention.

Catch his attention she did, and on May 3, 1949, Joe and Betty were married. They moved to the family ranch in the Ander community where they raised their children, Betty Jo and Michael. After their children were grown, Joe and Betty moved back into town to live in his parents' home. They were married 64 years before his passing in 2014.

Betty was a talented homemaker, an accomplished seamstress, gardener, cook, baker, and so much more. She loved fishing and would always want to make "one more cast". But her greatest joy was her family; her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even a great-great-grandchild. Betty knew these were her greatest blessings and she loved them with all her heart.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, and brothers Jack Ponton and Ken Ponton. She is survived by her children; Betty Jo Jacob of Goliad and Michael (Vickie) Jacob of Rosenberg, TX; five granddaughters, Natalie (Rudy) Martisek, Heather (Will) Roeske, Rae Ann (Matthew) Zurcher, Victoria (Matt) Flournoy, Kathleen (Luc) L'Ecuyer; ten great-grandchildren, Bryant and Caroline Roeske, Evelyn (Daniel) Cantrell, Pearl and Joy Martisek, Gavin and Ethan Zurcher, Aurora and Beau L'Ecuyer, and Jacob Flournoy; one great-great-granddaughter, Amara Cantrell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Close to her heart were her caregivers, Sophie Madsen and Bianca Padron.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3rd from 10:00 – 11:00AM at Grace Funeral Home, 214 N. Market Street in Goliad. The family will have a private graveside committal at Glendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to donor's choice.
