She had visited her cousins, Mesdames B. R. Holden and J. A. Lentz of this city many times. She had a serious illness at the home of Mrs. Holden about two years ago, from the effects of which she had never entirely recovered.
The funeral services were conducted at Hawfields Presbyterian church, near Mebane, by the pastor, Rev. J. W. Goodman. Miss Kerr had been a consistent member of this church for 61 years; for 23 years she was secretary of the ladies' Missionary Society. Her father was clerk of the Session of Hawfield's church for 35 consecutive years.
Only eternity can reveal the wonderful influence that beautiful christian character has wielded on those with whom her life has been spent. For many years she has made her home with her niece, Mrs. Hettie Scott. She was ever faithful to duty, and was a great favorite with all.
May the dear Lord bless and sustain her loved ones in their affliction, but we know "our loss is her gain."
