Janet Elizabeth Crater Dundore, 86, of Hummelstown, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, in the M.S. Hershey Medical Center with her family by her side.
Born in Middletown on January 8, 1936, she was one of eleven children to the late Leonard Elwood and Annie M. Forney Crater.
Janet retired after 17 years from the Hershey Medical Center where she worked in the laundry. She had previously worked as a housekeeper for the Hershey Estates at the former Cocoa Inn, and as a seamstress at the former Hesteco Dress & Sportswear Manufacturing Company, Hummelstown. Janet was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, its choir and Challenger Sunday School Class. She was a former Brownie Troop Leader. Janet enjoyed crocheting and recycling. Most of all, Janet loved spending time with family and friends. She always greeted visitors with "Welcome to the house of hats, hearts and butterflies"; and would send them on their way by saying "Happy Trails".
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Lester Dundore, on January 30, 2019; a grandson, James Samuel Dundore; and a great grandson, Tyler Lee Corty; a brother James Crater; and two sisters, Martha Keifer and Doris Sheaffer.
Janet is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L. Hoffer and Mary Ann Dundore, both of Hummelstown; two sons, Bryan E. Hinkle husband of Nancy of Grantville, and Scot L. Dundore husband of B. Lynn of Oberlin; four brothers, Leonard Crater, Jr. husband of Betty, William Crater, and Kenneth H. Crater all of Delaware, and Robert Crater husband of Nancy of Middletown; three sisters, Lenora Garcia wife of Andrew, and Carol Crater both of Middletown, and Rose Alexander wife of John of Oregon; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
