She was born on December 31, 1930 to Paul and Ulah (Simmons) Burgholder.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Robert N. Blackford; son, Stephen M. Blackford, whom she lovingly cared for over 25 years after a disabling car accident; her brothers, Wendell and Harold (Donna) Burgholder; and sister, Janet (Don) Shira.
She is survived by her sister Jean (Larry) Benson; four grandchildren, Justin (Sara) Stewart; Terry (Karissa) Blackford; Rachelle (Adam) Byrnes; and Kyle (Brittany) Blackford; ten Great Grandchildren; and Cousins, Nieces, Nephews that were very dear to her.
Joyce was baptized at age 17 in the Palmyra Church of Christ. She loved her family fiercely and her goal was their care, happiness and safety. When asked, "What was the first thing you thought when you met our Dad"? She said, "Would he be a good image for our kids." He certainly was! One of her fondest memories was living in Florida for several years and going to Jams and playing in card clubs. She loved watching Game Shows, Jack Hannah and Documentaries. Mom will be well remembered for her competitive nature, spunk and quick whit. We will miss her every day.
