Faye Almalene Schreiner
February 6, 1933 - November 23, 2022

Faye Almalene Schreiner died Wednesday, November 23 peacefully surrounded by her family at the Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born in the Red Star area of Cape to Pinkston Pervis and Ella Eliza Welker Niswonger on February 6, 1933.
She attended Washington School and the Old Central High School.
"Alm" never met a stranger. She could talk her way into and out of all kinds of situations. When she entered the room, you would know there was going to be a party.
She was proud of the fact she was of pioneer stock in Cape County being descended down from three of the first 20 families from North Carolina to settle in this area.
She worked many years as an activity director for Chateau Cape. While there she was instrumental in starting Cape's first Senior Fun Fest. She was very active in the Democratic Ladies group in the County. As President and as an election official for many years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary No. 3838. She was once nominated for "The Spirit of America Award."
She was active in her church, growing up in the Red Star Baptist Church and then becoming a Charter Member of LaCroix Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and worked in the nursery and helped with bible school.
When young she married Owen Scherer on November 7, 1949 in Cape Girardeau. This resulted in the births of Debra (Stan) Baughn and Owen Harold Jr. (Victoria) Scherer. She later married Benjamin Enderle and had Rowdy Benny (Lisa) Enderle. Her last marriage was to Earl Schreiner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; long time companion, Vernon Volkerding; three brothers, Larry, Gary and Melvin Niswonger; one sister, Belva Jean Litzenfelner; and her beloved grandson, James Baughn.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Monticello House for giving her 18 months of happiness.
Memorial contributions can be made to Cape Girardeau County Historical Society Scholarship Program in the name of James Baughn.
A visitation will be Monday, November 28, 2022 from 10:00 - 12:00 noon at Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
