GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER OF REVOLUTIONARY WAR CAPTAIN JOHN GEORGE OVERMIRE

Notes by Laurence Overmire, genealogist and family historian:
The 1905 Overmyer History says she was born Nov. 11, 1851 (Overmyer History and Genealogy 1680-1905 - Barnhart B. and John C. Overmyer).

She appears as both Jennie and Rebecca in various records. She married 1) Ralph M. Rood, one daughter Alice May "Allie"; 2) Henry Hovey, a Civil War veteran.

Jennie was a dressmaker and stenographer. She and her daughter Allie moved from Toledo, Ohio, to Los Angeles, California, by 1920. Jennie was living as a roomer with the Algernon Box family in 1930. Allie's residence at that time has not been located.

Jennie's death date and place is recorded in California Death Index (CDI). Her burial location is speculative, though more evidence is needed to confirm.

Allie M. Rood never married, worked as a clerk and died in Los Angeles County on Jan. 8, 1836. The date was recorded in Immanuel Presbyterian Church records. She was buried in Los Angeles County (CDI), but the exact location of the cemetery is unknown.
