Alphonsa was reared in a Christian home, and he accepted Christ at an early age. He began his spiritual life at St. John Primitive Baptist Church where he attended Sunday School and was a faithful and devoted worker until he moved away. Upon moving, he joined Clifford Temple
C.M.E. Church where he was a member of the choir and served as a Trustee.
Alphonsa was joined in holy wedlock to Altamease Thomas in 1955, and they were blessed with one child. She preceded him in death after 18 years of happiness, and he cared for his 11-year-old daughter with the help of his sister,
Larenuia.
After meeting Ruth Brown, they were joined in holy wedlock, and also were blessed with one child, and they also had happy experiences.
He worked for many years as a Maitre D' in the Red Carpet Hotels in Charlotte, North Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia; the owner and manager of Pam's Small World Day
Care Center in Tallahassee; an employee of the Peek Transyt Inc. Co. in Tallahassee; a member of Providence Missionary
Baptist Church.
Alphonsa was called to eternal rest on March 6, 1999, at 1:45 p.m. at Archbold Memorial Hospital.
He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Marjorie Pamela Brown Pinder (Jonathan) of Orlando, Florida, and Bridget Nicole Brown of Thomasville, Georgia; three sisters, Alice Olivia Brown Moore, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Larenuia Venzala Brown Gaines (Henry), Tallahassee, Florida, and
Mable Lee Brown Kelley, Miami, Florida; four brothers, Major Leon Brown, Jr. (Lucy), Miami, Florida, Altha Levonia Brown, Seattle, Washington, Percy Lee Brown (Earnestine), Miami, Florida, and James Welcome Brown (Beatrice),
