Chapel services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., with Rev. Marcy Grun officiating. Burial will follow in Oplin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Kathryn was born in Lawn, Texas, on July 28, 1934, the daughter of Walter and Edith (Poindexter) Nobles. She was raised in the Oplin area and lived most of her adult life in Abilene. While living in Abilene, she was a member of Highland Baptist Church and worked at Timex for 20 years. She was also owner/operator of a beauty salon.
She is survived by her husband, Dock J. Thornton, of Abilene; two sons, Matt Thornton and wife, Tana, of Abilene and Mitchell Thornton and wife, Lisa, of Eula; one daughter, Becky Townzen and husband, Harvey, of Abilene; six grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her prents; a daughter, Donna Gayle; and a daughter-in-law, Paige Thornton.
