Ellis Job Hemsley, age 92, died at his home on 20 November 2022, Plano, ID. He was the oldest son of Job and Jennie Hemsley. He was born on 3 June 1930, at Plano, ID.
Ellis attended his early school years in Plano, middle years in Edmunds and graduated from Sugar Salem High School. He attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University. He received his Eagle Scout Award in 1947 and participated in the unveiling of the "This is the Place Monument" (Salt Lake) and was the Eagle Scout chosen to participate in the ceremony. He also had the honor of escorting Brigham Young's daughter to the ceremony.
In 1950-1952, he served a mission to the Central States and served most of his time in Missouri. After his mission, he was drafted into the Army, 1952-54 at Ft. Lewis, WA. In 1953, he married Sharon Bird. Later divorced.
Ellis married Teckla Hokanson Schwab in 1987. He worked in Idaho Falls, ID, for several years and then worked at Ricks College as a grounds keeper specializing in sprinkler systems and worked there over ten years until he retired.
Ellis was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Teckla served two missions. The first in Raymondville, TX. Immediately following their mission, returned to the same town in Texas for another eight years. They later served in the Rexburg, ID, Temple.
Ellis is survived by his wife, Teckla, and his children by his previous marriage: Debbie (Paul) Stevens, Lehi, UT; Kevin Ellis (Nicky) Hemsley, Rigby, ID; and Steven Von Hemsley, West Jordan, UT. He is also survived by his sister, Nada (Gary) Bowen, and brother, Dan S. Hemsley (Lorie), Tooele, UT, and seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Ellis is proceeded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Beth (Reed) Hollist; and Ruth (Lorin) Beutler; and stepdaughter, Geraldine (Steve) Moreford.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends can make monetary contributions to the funeral expenses.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Plano, ID, Church, 5973 North 5000 West.
