He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy, attended Middle Tennessee State University, Davidson College, and Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. He entered private law practice with his father, Clarence E. Haston Sr, in 1962. In 1974, he was appointed by Gov. Winfield Dunn to fill the remaining term of retiring Circuit Judge Pete Brady and held the position of Circuit Judge for Tennessee's 31st Judicial District until retiring in 2002. He was an artist, a musician, a lover of family, friends, animals, nature, and in honor of his late brother, took a special interest in the service of veterans. He had a wonderful smile, sense of humor, and a firm handshake.
He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence Eugene Haston Sr. and Kathleen Donoghy Haston; beloved sister, Nancy Haston Keeling; his hero and brother, Clarence Eugene "Bud" Haston Jr. and very special friend, George Spurlock.
The family wishes to thank all past and present members of the McMinnville-Warren County Bar Association, past and present members of the law enforcement community, all those who served within the Warren County Circuit Court, in any capacity, for the steadfast friendship, support and devotion. Finally, a special and sincere thank you to the citizens of Warren and Van Buren Counties for whom he was truly honored to serve.
Per Mr. Haston's wishes, he will be cremated. No service or visitation will be held at High Funeral Home.
