Darrill Glenn Howell, 69, of Council Hill, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 in Durango, Colorado. He was born Friday, October 2, 1953 to Darrill and Bonnie Faye (Fitch) Howell at Fort Sill, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Glenn grew up in Gentry Creek and graduated from Midway High School in 1971.

After high school, he attended Indian Capitol Vo-Tech earning a degree in HVAC. Glenn went to work for his cousin Robert Prater at Acme Reese Heating and Air in Muskogee. Glenn farmed and raised cattle and was a team roper for many years. He later got his insurance license becoming a crop adjuster for RCIS where he was still employed and said he had no plans to retire.

In 2018 Glenn met Carol Craig of Yale, OK and they began their life together. Carol described him as one of the kindest people that she had ever met, and it seemed he had finally found "his person" and was truly happy and content. He loved helping Carol with the cattle and working on the farm and she even talked him into going on a trail ride even though he complained.

Glenn loved to be in the mountains and passed from this life in one of his favorite places, Colorado. He had gone to Colorado in the fall to hunt for over 30 years never missing a year. In 2014 a tradition of an annual trip with his daughter and her husband began, they traveled to Colorado many times, Utah, Arkansas, Missouri and most recently to South Dakota to the Black Hills. But not only were there annual trips he was ready for just about any two- or three-day adventure we could come up with. Jeeping and riding side by sides was always great fun with lots of laughs.

The man loved his food, especially a good steak or a crab boil, if you've ever been out to eat with him you know he always tried to charm the waitress, his taste in music was as wide and varied as the color of the trees in Colorado from Marty Robbins to Tommy James and the Shondells, he loved old jeeps and recently fixed up "his last one" until someone offered him a price he just couldn't turn down. He was quite a cook and always said he cooked with love. He loved old westerns, blue and red heelers, and two stepping. Glenn's most remembered saying when Cristy would tell him to save his money and prepare for getting old was "material things don't matter".

He was preceded in death by his father, Darrill D. Howell, mother, Bonnie Faye Fitch and brother Justin Howell.

Glenn is lovingly survived by his daughter, Cristy McSpadden and husband Mike (Spanky) of Wainwright; grandsons, Blake, Lane, and Hunter. His girlfriend and partner, Carol Craig of Yale; Step-mother, Carol Howell of Pierce: brother, Barry Howell and wife Brenda of Checotah; sister, Anna Lynn Newton and husband Tim of Pierce; brother, Steve Jones and wife Micci of Tulsa; sister, Martana Dill and husband Randy of Pierce; sister-in-law Tricia Howell of Checotah. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and a lifetime of friends.
