Obituary

Stewart Michael Abrams, 33, of Independence, KY., formerly of South Shore, KY., went to be with his Lord Thursday, November 15, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Edgewood, KY. He was born in Portsmouth, OH., June 2, 1989 a son of Susan Short Abrams of South Shore, KY., and the late Michael Bruce Abrams who passed away in 2005.

Along with his father, he is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Jim Short; paternal grandparents, Bruce and Carmelita Abrams.

To know Stewart, was to love him. He had an infectious smile, always happy as a clam, and blue eyes that could charm the socks off anyone. Growing up, he was active in church, sports, and Boy Scouts. He played football for Greenup County High School, where he graduated in 2008. After high school, he went on to play football for West Virginia Tech and semi-pro football for the Portsmouth Warriors under Ricky Whitt. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 98 and earned the highest rank attainable; Eagle Scout. He graduated from Morehead State University in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Earth Systems Science with an emphasis in Geology. He was a Senior Geologist at Terracon Consultants, where he worked as a concrete petrographer. Stewart's work ethic and passion for his work were unmatched. At Terracon, he was celebrated by his coworkers, receiving the Life Saving Award and Outstanding Contributor Award during his almost 6 years with the company.

Left behind to cherish his memory along with his mother are his wife of seven years Kalyn Hagman Abrams; one brother, Jakob (Katie) Abrams of Independence, KY; mother-in-law, Molly Hagman; father-in-law, Brad Hagman of Leopold, IN; grandmother, Phyllis Short of South Shore, KY; two cats he adored, Callie and Dolly. Along with several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Monday, November 21, 2022 at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY with Jim Bo Osman, Tim Timberlake and Ron Lech officiating. Burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts be designated to the Thomas Lierman Scholarship that supports Morehead State University students studying Geology.
