Edward Joseph Monter went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Cherokee Medical Center.

Born in Alliance, Ohio, he was the husband of Judith Pistillo Monter and son of the late John Monter and Margaret Haidet Monter. He retired from Timken, was a U. S. Navy veteran, was a member of the American Legion, and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved his family, golfing, and was an avid Carolina Gamecocks and Carolina Panthers fan.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Edward J. Monter, Jr. of Stow, Ohio, Randy Monter and Joseph Monter, both of Gaffney; four brothers, Jack Monter (Eloise) of North Canton, Ohio, Dave Monter (Sue) of Akron, Ohio, Dennis Monter (Belinda) of Johnstown, Ohio and Jerry Monter (Marcy) of Minerva, Ohio; three sisters, Pat Retone (Al) of Alliance, Ohio, Sandy Smith (Mick) of Waynesburg, Ohio and Jean Harper (Ed) of Kettering, Ohio, a brother-in-law, Gene Schott of Alliance, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Jan Monter of Alliance, Ohio; a granddaughter, Ava Katherine Almadovar-Monter; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud Monter and Jim Monter and his wife, Jan, and two sisters, Midge Schott and Doris Bishop and her husband, Art.

Cryptside services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, November 21, 2022 in Frederick Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Father Bruce Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 205 Sams Street, Gaffney, SC 29340.

The family will be at the residence, 1117 Cherokee National Highway, Gaffney, SC 29341.
