Mildred Ruth Smith was born in Crawford, Texas to Lazeras Alexander & Ethel L Walker Smith in 1906. Her parents died when she was 2 & 3 years old. Ruth, as she was called by her family, was adopted by her father's sister and her husband, R. C. and Ida A Jones. She married James DeWitt Grimes and they had a son J. D. Grimes born in 1929. After Ruth and Dee Grimes divorced, she married Delma Ordley Jones. Ruth was retired from the railroad.
She was one of the BEST cooks I have ever known. One of her passions was finding relatives where ever she went. She always seemed to find a distant cousin in the most unexpected places! She was a lover of all things family.
