GREENFIELD — Hessie M. (Tinch) Brown, 77, died Feb. 9, 2008, at Hancock County Hospital in Greenfield, following an extended illness.

She was born June 11, 1930, in Tennessee and had lived in this area most of her life.

She was a homemaker.

Hessie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rushville.

She enjoyed quilting, fishing and singing. She and her husband had a Southern gospel group called The Brown Family, which traveled to various churches throughout Indiana and Tennessee, spreading God's Word.

Hessie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Virgle Brown of Greenfield; five children, Betty Louise England of Tennessee, R.B. (wife, Dava) Brown of Texas, Otis Brown of Anderson, Darlene (husband, Jim) Wall of Whiteland and Tim Brown of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; two sisters, Eula Ledford and Shirley Carol June Cantrell; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Hessie was preceded in death by her daughter, Claire Marie Cantrell Raver; and parents, Shirley Greene and Zora Betty (Walker) Tinch.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Home and Crematory, South Chapel, 200 W. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by Pastor Pete White. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the south chapel.
