Russell Whitney Pincock, an 82-year-old resident of Heyburn, died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at his home.

He was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Teton, the son of Samuel Whitney and Anna Vera Bean Pincock. He received his education in eastern Idaho, graduating from Sugar City High School in 1943. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army Corps of Engineers in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He married Rea Schwendiman on June 11, 1947, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. In 1956, Russell and Rea, as part of the Homestead Act, drew a farm in the Emerson District of Heyburn. Here they made a lifelong career of farming and ranching. Together, they worked side-by-side with their children in providing a living for the family. Russell was also co-owner and president of the Independent Bean and Seed Company of Twin Falls.

Russell was known for his hard work ethic and was an active builder. He participated in various building projects, which included the Emerson LDS Church, the county offices in Gooding, and the Hart Building at Ricks College in Rexburg. As a member of the LDS Church, Russell served faithfully in various callings. He had served as a ward clerk, counselor in two bishoprics, ward and stake Sunday school president, stake sports director, high priest group leader and in the Young Men's organization. Civically, he was on the board of directors of the Minidoka Lamb Pool.
Russell enjoyed the outdoors and especially liked fishing, hunting, riding horses and snowmobiles, and was an avid golfer in his later years. Most important to Russell was his family. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and was proud of their accomplishments.

Survivors include his children, Marlyn Pincock of Heyburn, Nancy (Layne) Jackson of Jerome, Kent R. (Julie) Pincock of Burley, Karen (Ronald) Bair of Heyburn and Bruce W.
