Thomas Babb, 80, of Champaign passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Thursday (Nov. 10, 2022) at 9:20 a.m.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. The family will have a private graveside service at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Thomasboro.
Tom was born May 1, 1942, in Thomasboro, to Joe and Rita (Graham) Babb. He married Kay Cooper on Nov. 23, 1963, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Thomasboro. She survives.
He graduated from Rantoul Township High School in 1960. He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church.
Tom farmed for 62 years in the Thomasboro and Rantoul area.
Surviving are his son, Gary (Lisa) Babb of Fisher; daughter, Cindy (Matt) Gremer of Urbana; three grandsons, Zack (Celesta) Babb of Alaska, Lane (Crystal) Babb of Colorado and Conner Gremer of Missouri; a granddaughter, Nikki Gremer of Urbana; four sisters, Pat Combs of Thomasboro, Kay Anderson of California, Nancy (Dan) Reifsteck of Thomasboro and Janice (Don) Crozier of Gifford; a brother, John (Kathy) Babb of Thomasboro and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Shane Babb.
Tom loved deer hunting, especially at his cabin. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also a Chicago Cubs and Fighting Illini fan.
