Obituary:

Charles J. "C.J." Kocian, 95, passed away Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, at a retirement home in West.
Mass of Christian Burial: 10 a.m. Tuesday, celebrated by Fr. Michael Guadagnoli in the mausoleum’s North Chapel. A rosary will precede the Mass at 9:30 a.m. Entombment: Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in one of the State Rooms.
His grandchildren will be his pallbearers.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Association.
Charles was born Dec. 25, 1912, to Vince and Frances Pavlas Kocian in Penelope.
He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, the Czech Catholic Union of Texas (KJT) and the Czech Club in Dallas.
He retired from Vought Aircraft in June 1976 after 27 years in the Protective Services.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Martha Tobola Kocian; his parents; and sisters, Delma Hutyra and Regina Holacka.
Survivors: Children, Janice Kocian Spaniel and husband, Milton, James Kocian and wife, Melinda, John Kocian and wife, Carla; grandchildren, Molly Spaniel Mall and husband, Ben, Tom Spaniel and wife, Kelly, Debbie Kocian Gleason and husband, Chris, Jimmy Kocian, Matt Kocian, Diane Kocian and Chris Wade and wife, Christy; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Vanek and Frances Beseda; brother-in-law, Charles Tobola; sister-in-law, Stella Tobola; and many nieces and nephews.
