Poor, Judith Ann
Judy Poor, 71, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away February 7, 2008, at her home. Judy was born Sept. 25, 1936. A life long resident of Johnson County, she grew up in Merriam, Kan., and later lived in Overland Park. Judy graduated from Shawnee Mission High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years before retiring. After retirement she worked part time at Sylvester Powell Community Center in Mission. Judy loved life and she loved people. Her family and friends were her treasures. She had a deep compassion for others and her faith was what she lived by. Every morning she faithfully wrote her devotions to God. Judy also was a gifted artist. She loved painting, cooking, and listening to jazz. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the book club she belonged to. She also recently became a proud member of a local "red hat" group. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and two beloved brothers, Terry and Paul Gwinn. She leaves behind her sons and a daughter, Robert and wife Sophia Poor of Wellsville, Kan., Mark and wife Julie Poor of Wellsville, and Brenda Poor of Shawnee, Kan. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel, Aubrey and Derek Poor, and Shawn Pfeiffer; as well as several nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 12, Maple Hill Funeral Home in KCK. Burial following service in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
