LaVonne was active in St. Francis Catholic Church, St. Joan of Arc Guild, the CLC Foundation, CLC Scholarship Committee, and theater patron. She was an annual sponsor of the Brainerd Public Library children's summer reading program, and a lifetime member of Friends of the Library. She was involved with the early Literacy program, Evergreen Readers, BLACF, Birthright, the Brainerd History Group, the Grand Elbows, the Center, Interfaith Caregivers, Breath of Life, CWC Historical Society, and other nonprofit organizations.
She is survived by her daughters, Sheryl Tollefson, Paula (Gene Wheeler) Danzl, Con and Jane (Danzl) Christopherson, Maureen (Gary) Jensen, LaNita (Hanley) Mortenson, Lisa and (Todd) Danzl Scott and Janice (Craig) Sawyer, and her brother, Larry (Myrna) Habstritt of St. Cloud, 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; son, Mark; three infant children, John Robert, Mary Agnes and Marie Ann; sister, Dorothy (Bill) White; brother, Ronald (Joanne) Habstritt; sons-in-law, Shorty Crosgrove and Henry Tollefson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:30, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. Friends and family are also invited to gather for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Brainerd. A luncheon will be directly after burial at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, located at 1108 Willow Street, Brainerd, MN 56401. Arrangements are with the Nelson-Doran Funeral Home, Brainerd.
