Ammon Alexander Billings Jr, 76, of Bryant, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, September 30th, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Ammon was born on May 7, 1945 to Dr. and Mrs. Ammon Billings, Sr. in Malvern, Arkansas. After graduating from Malvern High School in 1963, he went on to earn his BSE and MSE from Henderson State University. While attending college, he met the love of his life Carolyn Waters Billings. He and Carolyn would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on October 6, 2021. He loved to tell the story of seeing her across the student union and knew he was in love.

Following graduation, Ammon taught science and math for three years at Sikeston Public Schools in Sikeston, Missouri. They later moved to Bryant, Arkansas, where they raised their three daughters. Anyone who knew Ammon knew that he was the most loving father and husband a family could ask for. He was so proud of his daughters, Alecia Anne, Ashley Dell and Andrea Ruth. He continually told his children how proud he was of them and how much they were loved.

Ammon worked as a Guidance Counselor for Bryant Public Schools for 33 years. He advised and guided thousands of students through their junior high and later high school courses. He always shared the joy he experienced by helping students navigate the teenage years. He is remembered for his many words of wisdom. "This too shall pass" or "what you put into something is what you get out of it" were frequently heard by those close to him. Ammon truly believed that there is good in everyone.

Ammon was preceded in death by his parents, Ammon and Ruth, a sister, Ann Billings Anderson (Hammond, LA and Vienna, VA), and a brother Norman Billings (San Antonio, TX). Ammon is survived by his wife, Carolyn, daughters: Alecia Castleberry (Mike) of Little Rock, Ashley Hixon (Denver) and Andrea Nelson (Kevin) of Alexander and his sister, Betty Smith of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren, Caleb Hixon (Sidney) Abby Hadaller (Payton), Woody Castleberry, Alex Castleberry, Rich Castleberry and Landon Nelson along with one great-grandson, Elijah Hixon.

Ammon and Carolyn have spent their retirement years traveling the world. He took Carolyn to all the places she wanted to see including Hawaii, Australia and Africa.

The family would like to thank the excellent doctors, nurses and staff at CARTI and Arkansas Heart Hospital. Visitation will be held at the family's home at 8008 Ironstone Drive in Alexander on Monday, October 4th, from 5 to 7 pm. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please make donations in Ammon's name to CARTI.
