James Patrick Mrozek was born on March 17, 1939 and he passed away November 12, 2017 at the age of 78 years of age. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years Patricia (Boyle) Mrozek, Sons Leo, and his wife Dana, James, Martin, and his Daughter Kristine. He was the beloved Grandfather of Adam, Michael, Steven, and Robert.

James was a Member of the Chicago Fire Department starting his career in 1966 and was assigned to Engine 124 where he spent his entire career there until his retirement in 1999 where he completed 33 years of service. He battled a lot of fires all those years with his fellow Firefighters and they always won doing what they needed to do and then returned to quarters getting the Engine ready to go battle the next fire.

He risked his life for other's battling these fires going in knowing the dangers that he faced while inside doing what needed to be done and always walked out. He then faced the biggest battle of his life coming down with Leukemia and he was in a fight for his life with other's now helping him to win this battle. He was always in good spirits and unless he told you that he had this you never would have known. With all the dangers he faced battling and fighting all these fires this was his final battle of his life he did not walk out from.

He was also an Electrician while on the Fire Department and had many talents knowing plumbing, carpentry, and basically everything where he could remodel and fix almost anything. He would always so kind hearted he would help anyone that needed help with something and always have time for them to go fix or do whatever they needed to be done to help them out. No matter what problem someone had with their house he would always know the answer to correct it and fix it to help them out. He never asked anyone for anything doing all these things for them except to make a pot of coffee or have his favorite soda which was Pepsi.

He spent a lot of his life going to Tomahawk Wisconsin loving to fish and after his retirement he purchased a house up there shortly after that to spend his summers at enjoying what he loved to do. Of course the home he purchased he remodeled from top to bottom to get it just the way he wanted it.

He was never a person that would say "no" to anyone no matter how long his day was, how tired or worn out he was. If you called him with a problem he would help you out over the phone or he was packing up some tools and on his way over.

James will be missed tremendously by his Family and all his Friends due to the kind hearted person he was always putting other's first. He was the last surviving sibling and is now reunited with his Parent's, his two Sister's Arlene and Cindy, his Brother Tom and they are all back together again.

Memorial visitation Saturday December 2 2017 from 9 AM until time of service at 12 Noon at the Schielka Addison Street Funeral Home.
