Sammy "Sam" Lee Beck, 70, passed away June 5, 2020, at Circle of Life in Bentonville, Ark. Sam was born on March 19, 1950 in Beloit, Kan. to James Otis and Opal Josephine Beck.
Sam was raised in Glasco, Kan. and graduated high school in 1968. He received his B.S. degree in accounting from Ft. Hays State University in 1972. He moved to Kansas City where he began his 31-year career with GMAC Financial Services.
He married his wife of 46 years, Catherine Grace Holke, in 1974 in Kansas City, Mo. They raised their two sons in Prairie Village and Leawood, Kan. Before retiring on Beaver Lake, Sam and Cathy lived in Dallas, Texas. Sam enjoyed camping and fishing with his family, following his sons in sports, woodworking, and spending time with friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Marie Reeves, and brother James Lee Beck. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; son Landon Beck and wife Jen of Durango, Colo.; and son Travis Beck, wife Melany and grandson Otis of Breckenridge, Colo.
Sam was a member of Bland Chapel United Methodist Church in Rogers, Ark.; memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bland Chapel United Methodist Church, 8530 Twin Coves Road, Rogers, Ark. 72756. Arrangements are with Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home, Rogers, Arkansas.
