Daryl Herman Gompert of Burwell, Nebraska passed Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Daryl was born on June 20, 1934 in Mitchell, Nebraska and was the son of Herman and Frieda Gompert. He was one of seven siblings, four brothers and three sisters.

Daryl grew up on the family farm near Mitchell and graduated from Sunflower High
School.

He went on to join the Navy and became a navigator and was based in Honolulu Hawaii.

While in Honolulu he married his high school sweetheart Ruth Elaine Andrews.

After his discharge they returned to a farm between Morrill and Mitchell Nebraska.

After several years of farming, Daryl attended Western Nebraska Community College at Sydney, Nebraska and earned his aircraft Airframe and Powerplant license pursing his dream of working in aviation. He earned a commercial pilots and instructors license and went on to teach countless students to fly.

He survived over forty years as a commercial spray pilot with only a few minor incidents. He trained his last student at the age of eighty-two and retired to his home in Burwell.

He was proceeded in death by all of his seven siblings and his wife Ruth Elaine, who passed almost nineteen years to the day after 48 years of marriage.

He leaves behind his son Dan and his wife Jenny Gompert of Hastings, son Ken and wife Letitia Gompert of Hastings and son Andy Gompert of Burwell, Nebraska. Daryl is also is survived by five grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren
