JOSEPH "JOE" MAHON, JR.
October 23, 2022

Age 84, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2022, at Concordia of Fox Chapel in Cheswick, PA.

Joe was the loving husband of almost 55 years to the love of his life, his late wife Diana Mahon; devoted father of Colleen (Douglas) McKinney, Bonnie (Ronald) Fox, and Joseph Mahon III; beloved "PapPap" of Allison (Tyler) Barrick, Kelly (Daniel) Kapenstein and Garrett McKinney, Andrew (Laura), Michael, and Bethany Fox, Kaitlyn (Francisco) Hernandez, and Jennifer Mahon; brother of Thomas Mahon and Timothy Mahon. Joseph also had six great-grandchildren: Francisco and Oliver Hernandez, Connor and Cali Kapenstein, Lucy Fox, and Ronan Barrick. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Milcic, and his parents, Joseph T. Mahon, Sr. and Marguerite O'Shea Mahon.

Joe was known by all to enjoy spending time with his family and for his wonderful sense of humor. He read his Bible every single day, without fail. He loved to work with his hands - whether it be building the house in O'Hara Township that he lived in for 52 years, assisting Diana in her garden, or building radio-controlled airplanes. He had a love for sci-fi and enjoyed watching shows and movies such as Star Trek and Star Wars and collecting memorabilia from the franchises. Joe served in the United States Navy on an aircraft carrier from 1955-1958 and was a weekend warrior from 1963-1966.

Celebrate Joe's life by taking joy and solace in the fact that he is enjoying his eternal life in his new home with his Heavenly Father and reunited with the love of his life, Diana. Although he is greatly missed here on earth, he and Diana are "singing and dancing" together now.

Joe's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Concordia of Fox Chapel for the wonderful care and compassion that they extended to him during his stay there and his final days, as well as the support they provided to loved ones during this difficult time.

A memorial service to celebrate Joe's life will be held on November 5, 2022, at the Dorseyville Alliance Church at 3703 Saxonburg Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15238. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 a.m. and the service will take place at 11:00 a.m. There will be a luncheon following the service in the church's fellowship hall. Interment will be private.

Donations may be made in Joe's memory to the Alzheimer's Association (act.alz.org).
