John Thornton Woodford born at "Windsor," Caroline County, Va. in 1763. He served as a major/lt. colonel in the War of 1812 . He represented Caroline County in the Virginia House of Delegates, 1802-06, 1817-18. He married (1) in 1786, Mary Turner Taliaferro (1772-1828), and (2) Mary Lane (-1833). They moved in 1820, to near Winchester, Clark County, Ky. Eleven children were William Taliaferro (1787-1831) who married Anna Maria Archer (1788-1840); John (1789-1814); Thomas (1791-1852) who married (1) in 1817, Sarah T. Thornton (dsp), (2) in 1819, Elizabeth B. M. Taylor, and (3) in 1829, his cousin, Lucy Thomas Catesby Woodford (1789-); Lucy Gregory (1793-1832) who married in 1808, Dr. John Taylor (1784-1853); Mary (1796-1833)(unm.); Sarah Taliaferro (1798-1830) who married in 1820, Dr. Simeon Ambrose Dudley; Catesby (1800-16); Ann Cocke (1801/2-78) who married in 1822, Dr. Thomas Madison Taylor (1800-72); Betty Thornton (1805-68) who married in 1822, John Robertson Montgomery (-1837); Mildred Gregory (1807-64) who married in 1824, Edmund Hockaday Didlake (1798-1875); and Mark Henry Woodford (1810-49) who married in 1836, Sarah Ann Hayden (1818-).
