On Sunday evening last, at 7 o'clock Mrs. Hester Early died suddenly at her residence on West Commerce St., aged about 66 years. She was sitting in her chair conversing with the family and friends, who were just preparing to attend church, when the dread message came. Recently she had quite a severe attack of angina pectoris, but had so far recovered as to inspire her friends with the hope that she had a now, lease on life, and on the day of her death, had been feeling better and was more cheerful than usual. Her death was so quiet and unexpected that hardly a sign of its approach was given to those around her.
Mrs. Early was the relict of Joseph Early who was long a resident on the Valley Pike, where his son Daniel Early now resides, and who died many years ago. She was a highly respected and worthy member of society and for a number of years had been a consistent member of the German Baptist, or Dunker church.
Her remains were laid to rest today in the old Early graveyard, followed by her devoted children and a large concourse of sympathizing friends who sincerely mourn her departure to a brighter and better land.
