A man of varied interests, he excelled at beekeeping, violin playing, piano tuning, and leading the local church choir. A tall, thin man, he always had a cigar in his mouth and he loved his four seat motor boat which he keep at his cottage in Canada. He was a tinsmith, piano tuner and a butcher. He lived part of his life in Michigan, Florida and Ontario, Canada.
When he died in Oxford County, Ontario, Canada, he left his prized violin to his grandson, Reginald R. Robinson, who, in turn, gave it to his eldest great granddaughter, Jessie Cole.
