Carol Ann Puskas Szabo (nee Guzik), age 90, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at Avon Place Skilled Nursing Facility following a lengthy illness.

Born August 17, 1932, in Lorain, she graduated from Lorain High School in 1950. In 1993 she moved to Elyria.

Carol worked as a floor secretary at St. John West Shore Hospital in Westlake for 10 years, retiring in 1993. Before this, she worked as a secretary in Lorain's prosecutor's office for over 15 years.

Carol was an active member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Elyria having volunteered many hours with church events including carnivals and bingo. She also was a member of the former Polish Legion of American Veterans Auxiliary Drill Team.

Carol enjoyed gardening, sewing, and playing card. Her pride and joy each year were her pink, blue, and lavender hydrangeas. She also loved helping to raise her grandchildren and helping at Puskas Family Flowers.

Surviving is her children, George (Donna) Puskas of Avon Lake and Greg of Lorain; daughters, Carla Puskas of Sheffield Lake and Celeste Puskas of Sheffield Township; step-son, Dennis "Denny" Szabo of Amherst; step-daughters, JoEllen (Mark) Schulli and Judy (Gary) Silvey both of Avon Lake, Rosalie (Don) Nieding of Vermilion; grandchildren, Douglas, Sarah, Lauren, Megan, and Alex; and sister, Marlene Chrulski of Lorain.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, George D. Puskas in 1980; parents, Joseph and Stefania (nee Nowakowski) Guzic; son, Grant Puskas; sister, Joan Hritsko; and brother, Alan Guzik.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin Funeral and Cremation Specialists, 2701 Elyria Avenue, Lorain. Funeral services will begin Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 41295 N. Ridge Road, Elyria. Rev. Neil Walters will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
