Willard J. Espy and Evelyn Hines's research collaboration:
"Susannah Jefferson died of a putrid sore throat, now called diphtheria. She is buried in the same plot with Clara, Emma, Delos Edward, and Anna E. Jefferson. Susannah died before the others, and her name is not on the headstone."

Delos and Matilda Jefferson were living in Washington Co. in 1850. Delos Jefferson and his wife filed on a Donation Land Claim in Oregon City. His DLC #4972 is located in Marion Co. in T9S, R3W, Sec.1 and contains 607.41 acres. They settled on the Claim 16 Aug. 1852. Delos was b. in Cattaraugus Co., New York and md. Matilda on the 14 Nov 1850 in Portland, Oregon. Affiants are: Simon Smith, Wm. Delany and Isaac Cook. The family is living in North Salem in 1860 and no female is listed that fits the age of Susannah as given in the geneaology.
