Howard Ira Comstock passed away on October 27, 2022. He just had a big birthday party on September 5th on his 98th birthday. He missed his 75th Wedding Anniversary by 5 days. Howard was born on September 5, 1924 in St. Louis, Michigan. He was the son of Robert Ira and Dora (Dean) Comstock.

Howard was the last of the Comstock siblings. He was preceded in death by: Robert Wayne Comstock (Margaret), Erma (Phil) Stone, Elizabeth (Robert) Greening.

He was a proud 82nd Airborne soldier during World War II. He parachuted into dangerous areas and luckily (for his future children) he made it back home.

Howard loved being a part the Alma Church of God (where he was an Elder); the St. Louis, Michigan VFW; and the St. Louis, Michigan American Legion. He drove trucks for Liquid Transport for 33 years and helped unionize with the Teamsters. He then became a Steward for the Teamsters Union. For many years Howard and Dolores delivered Meals on Wheels in the Alma-St. Louis area.

He also loved going to the Upper Peninsula to deer hunt with his sons and grandsons. He looked forward to it the entire year.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 31, 2022 at 11 am at Alma Church of God, with Pastor Brian Wickes officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at 2 pm on Monday following the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 30th, from 5 to 7 pm at the Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma.
