CHAMPION, RAY WILSON Ray Champion was born on October 26, 1916 in Dawson, Texas and passed away on February 18, 2007 in Richardson, Texas. He held a Bachelor's Degree in business from Trinity University and a Master's Degree from Texas A & I College. He served in the U.S. Army with the Flying Tigers during World War II in China and India. He was a teacher and coach in Robstown, Texas. He retired from Celanese Corporation after thirty-five years service. He was also a Mason. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Eugenia. He is survived by sons Ray W. Champion, Jr. and wife Peggy, Gary N. Champion and wife Lourdes, Dale B. Champion and wife Mary, daughter Sandra J. Champion. He leaves eight grandchildren: Steve Champion, Wendy McMurtrey, Shelly Ford, Lisa Cross, Kimberly Tovar, Christopher Champion, Gary Champion, Jr., Nicholas Buchanan, also George and Louis Hobbs and nine great-grandchildren. Special thanks to trusted family, friend and caregiver Evelyn Gravely and to the nurses and staff at Arden Courts of Richardson, Texas. Graveside inurnment service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2007 at Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials designated in memory of Ray Champion may be made to the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 4144 N.
