He was ths son of Joel Heard Babb and Rachel Goodwin. He married Adaline Oliver.

John N. Babb, who states DOB as 19 March 1832 in Dekalb Co, GA, has a CSA pension application on line under Fulton County in the GA Archives. He says he enlisted in 1861 near Kennesaw, Ga and served 3 years and some months with Co. A of the 18th GA Regiment. When the war ended, he was on official detail for the Confederate Government near Richmond, VA. See GA Pension record #178730-00543 to read his own words and those of witnesses.
