He was born Sept. 27, 1934, at Perryville, son of William J. Versheldon who preceded him in death and Ruth A. Zoellner Versheldon who survives in Perryville.
He married Dorothy Welker November 27th, 1965, in Apple Creek. She survives in Perryville.
He is also survived by two sons and a daughter in law: Terry and Beth Versheldon of St. Charles, and Randy Versheldon of Chesterfield; three daughters and sons in law: Karen and Bill Fitzpatrick of St. Peters, Connie and Jim Siebenmorgan of Bloomington, Illinois, and Sheila and Jamie Schilling of Perryville and six grandchildren.
He worked for Citizens Electric Corporation for 32 years as a superintendent.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of American Legion Post No. 133 in Perryville and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. this (Monday, January 21st, 2008) evening at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., with the American Legion service immediately following.
Visitation continues from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Tuesday. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
A funeral mass for 73-year-old William J. Versheldon Jr. will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 22nd, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating.
Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery with military honors courtesy of American Legion Post 133.
