Her father was a miner and died in a mining accident in 1905. Pear married Joseph DeVold of Carthage in 1903/04. One child, Dean Dillard DeVold, was born 20 Sept 1905. That marriage ended in divorce and she married Clayton Thomas Metcalf on Nov. 5, 1906. He brought one daugher, Neva, from his previous marriage to Della V. Taylor into the new family. Pearl and Clayton had four more children of their own. She loved her family and delighted in making her home welcoming for all.
