Eugene Ivan "Gene" Gast, 71, of Moorhead, MN., passed away on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Sanford Health Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Gene was born on March 23, 1951, to Albert and Dorathea (Weber) Gast, in Breckenridge, MN. He grew up in Breckenridge, where he attended and graduated from Breckenridge High School, in 1969. He then attended Detroit Lakes Technical College, where he graduated with his Associates Degree in Carpentry, in 1971. He was united in marriage to Sue Quam, on August 23, 1980. He worked various jobs over the years, and he died doing what he loved, farming and carpentry.
Gene enjoyed building and fixing. If anything was broken, he had the ability to repair it. He enjoyed fishing, spending time at the lake, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, he absolutely worshipped his grandchildren.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Sue; children: Craig (Katie) Gast and Kevin (Chrissy) Gast; grandchildren: Callie, Kelsey, Isaac, and Morgan; and many other loving relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Dorathea; and siblings: Don Lelm, Delores Bezenek, and Warren Gast.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the prayer service at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Visitation will continue from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 28, 2022, at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Final resting place will be at Christ the King Lutheran Church Columbarium following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Christ the King Lutheran Church to pay down their mortgage principal.
