Melissa L. (Merritts) Spade, 56, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Friday after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Melvin Jr. and Betty (Harr) Merritts. She married James Spade on May 29, 1993.

Surviving are her husband of 29 years; a brother, Melvin and wife, Janel; her mother-in-law, Iona Spade; a brother-in-law, Harry and wife, Deb; a sister-in-law, Iona; an uncle; and many aunts, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Mark Allen.

Melissa graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1984 and worked at Kids First Therapy Center as an office manager.

She was an avid reader. Melissa enjoyed going to car shows, doing puzzle books, and spending time with family.

Friends will be received from 3 to 6pm Friday October 28, 2022, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6pm. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the family.
