Connie was born June 26, 1938, at the farmhouse near Dry Gully, SK, twenty-two miles north of Maidstone, SK. She was the fourth of 11 children born to William Carl and Betty Florence Bjrokquist. Growing up during the war years was not easy. One year for Christmas the children received oranges as their gift, and what a treat that was. After some trying years of farming, the family moved to Winterburn, AB in 1951. Connie attended Stony Plain High School and was an honour student. Connie married in 1958 and began what would be a 60-year career at Pine Bungalows, originally working for different owners, before finally buying the property in 1974.

In 1997, when her son Michal took over operations at the bungalows, The family started to replace existing cabins. Connie was instrumental in the rebuilding process and she was always amazing with customers and staff. In the off-seasons, Connie wrote two family history books, one for each of her parents. Connie's writings were well-researched, referencing, among other works, Elinor Barr's book, Swedes in Canada. Connie also helped Edith Gourley to edit Jasper Reflections. In addition to writing, Connie was an accomplished quilter with a few Red Ribbons to show for it. Connie also enjoyed stamp collecting, taught herself, conversational Swedish, took piano lessons, volunteered with several local causes, worked on Joe Clark's political campaign, was a census taker and she loved travelling abroad. Connie was an armchair Jeopardy champion who enjoyed the challenge of a Sudoku and could solve the New York Times crossword puzzle, no problem.
Connie was a great friend to many people and she will be sadly missed.
