Margaret L. Loeb Long Time Community Resident Margaret L. Loeb, age 88, an Erie resident from 1940 to 2005, passed away at Bayview Villa Assisted Living, in San Carlos, California on Wednesday, April 9, 2008. She was born in Pittsburgh on January 21, 1920, daughter of the late Saul and Clarice Lavine. She was a graduate of Taylor-Alderdice High School in Pittsburgh, and attended Carnegie Institute of Technology majoring in architecture for three years before marrying and moving to Erie in 1940. Mrs. Loeb was very active in the community. She served as president of the Erie County Medical Auxiliary, the Visiting Nurses Association, and Metropolitan Meals on Wheels. She also served on the boards of the Erie Philharmonic, the National Council of Jewish Women, the Humane Society, The Erie County United Way, and Temple Anshe Hesed Sisterhood. Mrs. Loeb sang with the Erie Philharmonic chorus for twenty years, and with a professional quartet for seven years at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Paul, and Temple Anshe Hesed. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Loeb, M.D. in 2005. Mrs. Loeb is survived by her brother, James Lavine of Pittsburgh , her two sons, Dr. John M. Loeb and his wife, Dr. Penny Loeb of the San Francisco Bay area; Atty. Robert Loeb and his wife Roberta Loeb of Denver, Colorado; five grandchildren: Anna, Zachary, Jaime, Carin and her spouse, Alex Wagner and Dana and her spouse, Eric Freisinger. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th St., on Sunday, April 13, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., and may attend services there on Monday, April 14 at 10:00 a.m., with Rabbi John Bush officiating.
