SAMUEL RUFUS HUDSON DIED
November 9, 1940, the day before his 77th birthday. He had been in poor health for some time but a few days previous to his death he fell while up town and had to be taken home, and realized that his last illness had overtaken him.

He was born November 10, 1863, living near Nashville, Tenn. until he was four years old when the family moved to Missouri.

He was married to Manda Jane Kincaid November 4, 1887 and to this union 10 children were given. Dossie May and Henry Clay preceded him in death.

Those who are left to mourn his loss, with his beloved wife, are as follows: Mrs. Geo. Harper, Hughesville, Mo.; James Oscar, Thomas Elick and Joseph Homer, all of Webster City, Iowa; Mrs. W. E. Baggerly, Montrose; Mrs. Howard Elliott of Baton Rouge, La.; Oda Hudson of Deepwater, and Mrs. Carl Christen near LaDue; also 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers and two sisters, Rev. W.R. Hudson, Rockville; N.T. Hudson, Weaubleau; Mrs. Jack Foster, Uallhala, Mo.; Mrs. Geo. Kennedy, state of Oregon.

Mr. Hudson was converted over 40 years ago and united with the Wright Creek Baptist Church, later moving his membership to the LaDue Baptist Church, where he remained a true member. He was a faithful Christian and read his Bible daily until his health failed. His character and personality drew people to him and he will be sadly missed by those who loved him best and by his neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were held at the LaDue Baptist Church. Rev. Hugh Sperry delivered a touching memorial. "Going Down the Valley," "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" and "God Be With You" were sung by Mesdames D.W. Woods, Joe Adkins, Messrs. R. C. Grigsby and James Vansant, with Mrs. I M. Hull at the piano. Pallbearers were Loyd Sanders, Arthur Middaugh, Roy Briggs, Orville Woods, Pete Neil and Norman Hindes, Honorary pallbearers were H.B. Hollopeter, Joe Martin, Charles Minich, R.H. Robertson, R.H. Robinson and Jake Chastain. Burial was in LaDue Cemetery. Spore & Son service in charge.
