A Rockingham County jury found Pablo de la Cruz Contreras guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Ashley Dawn Kennon, 11. The 29-year-old migrant worker also was convicted of hit and run, personal injury, for running over Ashley's friend, Jennifer Cannon, 11. The two girls were riding their bicycles July 8 near their Ruffin homes.
