After a long illness, Barbara Jean (Heller) Ayers of Perrysburg, Ohio peacefully passed away on October 18, 2022. Barbara was born on August 31, 1933 in Toledo, Ohio to Eugene and Meredith (Kerr) Heller.

Barbara graduated from Scott High School in 1951 and attended Bowling Green State University to pursue her degree in Elementary Education. Barbara met the love of her life, Melvern A. Ayers, while both attended Bowling Green and were married on June 19, 1954. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years on July 27, 2014. They were known as Grammy and Papa to their 5 children, 7 grand-children, and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to raising her family and the many associated activities, Barbara was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority as well as the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Barbara is survived by three daughters, one son, six grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvern Ayers, Sr., her son, Melvern Ayers,Jr., and grandson, Mark Weis.

Funeral services will be held at Walker Funeral Home Witzler Shank Chapel, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio. Visitation will be on October 29, 2022 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by funeral services provided by Zoar Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zoar Lutheran Church, Perrysburg, Ohio. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
